Belarus President to visit Venezuela

Alexander Lukashenko, the President of the Republic of Belarus, plans to pay an official visit to Venezuela in order to improve bilateral relations and reinforce cooperation, reported in Minsk official news agency Belarusian Telegraph Agency (BalTA) on its website www.belta.by.

Luckashenko did not set a date for his visit, but did note his country's interest in approaching Venezuela to discuss food-related and military cooperation, quoted official Agencia Bolivariana de Noticias (ABN).

"For valuable consideration of Venezuelan President Hugo CHavez' help to Belarus in hard times and sensitive issues, we will provide twice the benefits than any western company may offer Venezuela. We will work twice or three times in Venezuela compared with any work than can be done by western specialists," said Lukashenko.

"Venezuela is Belarus' strategic partner," he added, and said that his country started to implement prior agreements with the Venezuelan government.
