President Ilham Aliyev: I am sure negotiations on Belarus companies' involvement in oil projects of Azerbaijan will be successful

Azerbaijan and Belarus presidents gave a briefing in Baku today. Azerbaijan President talked on the prospects of cooperation in energy, oil-gas, military-technical, engineering and humanitarian spheres between the two countries. "Relations in these spheres are very important.

We discussed with Mr Lukashenka many issues, including regional, political, economical relations. There are first results of negotiations in economical sphere. Belarus tractors are already assembled at Ganja Automobile Plant (Azerbaijan). Belarus- Azerbaijan cooperation relations is speedily developing. I am sure the relations between the two countries will further develop after this visit".

Belarus President said the visit in Azerbaijan is of great importance for him. He said Azerbaijan and Belarus is friendly countries and ten thousands of Azerbaijanis live in Belarus freely. He also stressed satisfaction for the level of relations between two countries. "I get in close contact with Ilham Aliyev in the conferences. Ilham Aliyev carries best qualities of Heydar Aliyev. Heydar Aliyev always served as example to me"

Then the Presidents answered journalists' questions. Azerbaijan president Ilham Aliyev in response to the journalist's question on energy sphere cooperation prospects of the two countries said that the corresponding bodies are considering this issue. "Belarus companies are interested in oil projects of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan is becoming producer of oil and gas. We will produce 43 million tones of crude oil this year increasing this figure to 50 million next year. I am sure the negotiations will yield positive results. We transport energy resources to Europe with three pipelines. We think transportation of oil through the Odessa-Brody pipeline is in perspective plans. We give our political support to this project. Financial issues are being discussed now."

Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed the need of the press bodies of the two countries publishing and broadcasting educative news on the two nations. "There is no problem for cultural cooperation. Cooperation in this sphere is being continued." /APA/
