Iranian president leaves for Minsk

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has left for Minsk as part of a two-day visit to Belarus's capital aimed at bolstering mutual relations.

Ahmadinejad's visit comes at the invitation of his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko.

Upon leaving for Belarus early Monday, the president stressed Tehran's determination to expand ties with Minsk in all areas.

The chief executive, accompanied by a high-ranking entourage, described Iranian-Belarusian relations as cordial and strong, and called for further strengthening of bilateral ties.

Lukashenko voiced support for Iran's nuclear program during talks held with the Iranian leadership in Tehran last November.
