Iran-Belarus, a new economic wave

TEHRAN, May.21 (ISNA)-With the hope to enhance economic ties, the Iranian President heading a high ranking official delegation left Tehran for Belarus, this morning.

Based on an official invitation by the Belarusian president, Alexander Lukashenko, the two sides will discuss bilateral, regional and international issues of interest.

Meeting with Iranian residents, penning Tehran-Minsk letters of memorandum and interviews with Belarus television stations are on the agenda of the Iranian President's visit.

Other Iranian high ranking officials including Iranian ministers of foreign affairs and commerce accompany Ahmadinejad.

"Iran attaches much significance to maintaining ties with Belarus and our relationships are boosting in all fields," said Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in the farewell ceremony.

The President had previously named energy, industry and transportation as the main arenas of current Iran-Belarus tie enhancement.

"We plan to develop bilateral ties in non-state run sections as well and have joint investments," he said.

He said that he hoped the visit would stimulate a new wave in the economic relationships between the two countries.
