Russian, Belarussian premiers discuss trade-economic relations

YALTA, May 25 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov and his Belarussian counterpart Sergei Sidorsky discussed trade and economic relations between the two countries, during a bilateral meeting ahead of the session of the Council of CIS Prime Ministers on Friday.

In January 2007, Russia and Belarus signed an agreement on supplies of Russian natural gas to Belarus at 100 dollars per 1,000 cubic meters. Previously, the republic had bought it at 46 dollars per 1,000 cubic meters.

On May 17, the two countries signed an agreement in Minsk on Gazprom's purchasing a 50-percent stake in Belarus's Beltransgaz monopoly.

The sides agreed on a wholesale surcharge for gas, which should amount to 11 dollars per 1,000 cubic meters by January 1, 2011.

Fradkov and Sidorsky last met on March 23, at a meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Union State of Belarus and Russia.
