Russia-Belarus union treaty actually denunciated - Lukashenko

MINSK, May 29 (Itar-Tass) - Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko said there were problems in the relations with Russia.

Meeting a delegation led by the Krasnoyarsk region's governor Alexander Khloponin on Tuesday, Lukashenko said there were moments in the relations indicating actual denunciation of the Russia-Belarus union state treaty.

"Why the treaty on the formation the union state is in fact being denunciated at present? (Russian first president Boris) Yeltsin and I signed it, but we ratified it with the current president, exchanging ratification letters. It means that it was acknowledged and supported, and this was a right decision," Lukashenko said.

He said Belarus was ready for a serious union with Russia.

He added that "absolutely nothing depends on Belarus" in building the union.

"We should quickly go out of the situation as it is, demonstrate that this was a mistake and we should return to the building of the union that is a model of how you should live and work," Lukashenko said.
