Murdoch Announces Expansion in Baltic and Belarus
News Corp. Europe, owned by media mogul Rupert Murdoch, is considering the possibility of new acquisitions.
News Corp. Europe still has not selected a precise company is Estonia and Lithuania which it wants to take over, said deputy management president Ewan Mirylees in an interview for the Estonian economy Aeripaeev paper.
Two weeks ago, Murdoch`s company has purchased the largest Lithuanian private KNT TV station, as well as a 70 percent stake in the also Lithuanian private TV station called TV 5. Total value of these transactions has not been announced, while media's estimations amount to around 26.5 million euro.
LNT management president Andris Ekis said that News Corp. Europe was interested for expansion of business in Belarus as well.
