Abductors Threaten to Use Belarusian For Rituals

A new twist yesterday reared up its head over the Belarusian woman married to a Nigerian, Mrs. Irina Ekpo, kidnapped weekend while she was on her way from work as his abductors have threatened to use her for rituals.

Mrs. Ekpo who works for Whasan Catering Company and had complications over attempts to release her when her abductors said to be in contact with her husband allegedly demanded for $1.2 million.

The demand was made through the Russian Embassy which is handling the case for Belarus which has no mission in Nigeria . Our source said that apart from the gun shot wound she was inflicted by the abductors, she was in good health.

A source in Port Harcourt yesterday said the husband to the woman reported to the police yesterday that the abductors of her wife were in contact with him and threatened to use her for rituals in celebration of Adaka Borro's remembrance.

By the time THISDAY got to the Police Headquarters to speak with the distraught Ekpo, he had left while all attempts to link up with him to get more details proved abortive.

Although Irina was reported as having been blocked on her way from work around the Air Force road by-pass, latest information said they waited for her at the gate of her house and shot her on the leg when she made to resist before they took her away.
