Iran and Belarus sign economic memorandum

TEHRAN, May 23 (ISNA)-Iran and Belarus signed a memorandum to raise economic contacts in domains including car manufacturing, producing agricultural and mining heavy machines and purchasing steel products at the second joint industry and mining commission.

The memorandum also involving presenting technical services, raising banking ties and producing electronic devices was signed by Iran's minister of mines and industries Akbar Mehrabian and Belarusian industry minister Anatoli Rusetski at the end of the commission.

The volume of Iran-Belarus economic exchanges around 80 million dollars is expected to reach to one billion dollars in near future.

Iran's minister of mines and industries who has tripped to Belarus also delivered a report to Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko on the process of implementing joint projects and outcomes of the dual economic commission.

The two sides highlighted raising bilateral cooperation in various domains.

Mehrabian also conveyed Iranian president's best regards to his Belarusian counterpart highlighting the importance of holding the joint industry and mining commission and finalizing agreements.

In a separate meeting Mehrabian also studied previously-signed agreements with Belarusian prime minister Sergei Sidorsky while discussing ways to move forward contacts and facilitate cooperation.

Mehrabian also paid a visit to Samand and Belaz car factories as well as plants producing heavy mining machineries.

Also a number of Belarusian businessmen and officials encouraged Iranian companies to take part in shared projects on car manufacturing, industrial and banking cooperation as well as oil contacts.
