Trade between Azerbaijan and Belarus was worth some $128 million in 2009.
This was an increase of 15% despite the financial crisis, Belarusian ambassador Nikolay Patskevich told journalists today.
Economic ties between the two countries are diversifying and reciprocal investments increasing, the ambassador said on the eve of the second Belarusian national exhibition in Azerbaijan.
He cited the Ganja automobile plant as a great achievement in Azerbaijani-Belarusian cooperation. The plant assembles tractors, trucks and cranes from parts provided from Belarus.
The Belarusian side is keen to export the Ganja plant's production to third countries, Patsekvich said.
He also said that preparations were under way for Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko to visit Azerbaijan this year.
