Azerbaijan, Belarus enjoy "great" potential to expand economic cooperation

05 May 2010 [14:50] - Today.Az

Belarus' Ambassador to Azerbaijan has praised the two countries' potential to expand their economic cooperation.

Nikolay Patskevich spoke to journalists on the eve of the 2nd Belarusian national exhibition due to kick off in the Azeri capital on Tuesday. Patskevich expressed confidence the exhibition would contribute to developing the Azerbaijani-Belarus relations.

"This year the Belarus national exhibition will be much larger. Last year it gave a critical push to our relations. And we hope to repeat this success this year."

The first Belarus national exhibition took place three years ago during Alexander Lukashenko's visit to Baku.

"We've already drawn up a wide range of economic projects. Our economies supplement each other, and we want to use this," said the Belarus ambassador. The highlight of the 3-day exhibition is a joint business between Azerbaijan and Belarus aimed at manufacturing and selling trucks and tractors.

"We've been working on this projects for three years. We plan to launch cooperation between the Ganja automobile and Minsk tractor factories."
