Mehrabian due in Minsk

TEHRAN - Iranian Industries and Mines Minister Ali-Akbar Mehrabian will leave Tehran for Minsk today.

Merabian will attend the inauguration ceremony of Iran's copper wire production factory in Belarus, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting reported.

During the visit, the Iranian minister will also discuss economic ties with the Belarusian Minister of Industry Alexander Radovic.

Launching a cement factory with the daily production capacity of 3,300 tons and starting the second development phase of Iran's Samand car assembly line are the main topics of the negotiations.

Currently the two countries' trade value stands at $3.250 billion.

In May 2009, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko met with Vice-Governor of the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Reza Raei, to enhance an oil production project in the Jofeir field, located in Southwestern Iran near the border with Iraq.

Subsequently, the Central Bank of Iran agreed to lend $212m to Belarusneft for the project
