Belarus official for sterilization

MINSK, Belarus |

A Belarusian member of parliament introduced a bill Thursday that would allow forced sterilization of citizens.

The Interfax news agency reports Belarusian member of parliament Sergei Kostyan supports legislation that avoids the birth of handicapped children the state would later have to support.

The lawmaker claims promiscuous sexual behavior is a cause of birth defects.

Kostyan is quoted as saying: This law will be a strict warning for those whose sexual life is disgustingly promiscuous, adding, Animals lead orderly lives, and so do 99 percent of people. One percent live non-orderly and breed children, mostly unhealthy, mostly morons.

In Belarus, 32,000 orphans are currently deprived of parental care and 86 percent are state supported, according to the Itar-Tass news agency.
