Belarus, China to boost military cooperation

MINSK. June 6. KAZINFORM. - China will provide to the Belarussian Defense Ministry medical equipment 600,000 U.S. dollars worth, as was announced during Belarussian Defense Minister Colonel-General Leonid Maltsev's visit to China in early June, Kazinform quotes Itar-Tass.

He visited China at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Colonel-General Cao Gangchuan, who is also deputy chairman of the China's Central Military Council.

During the talks the two parties signed documents on the expansion of cooperation in training military personnel. They also signed an additional agreement on training Chinese military at a military academy in Minsk.

China and Belarus sealed deals on the implementation of joint projects on munitions and military hardware revamping.Maltsev and Cao exchanged opinions on international security problems and current issues of military construction. The two ministers came out against double standards in international policies and for equal rights of all members of the international community in working out and adopting vital decisions.

They also pointed out to similar tasks the two countries' armies are expected to handle in the process of on-going military reforms. The two defense ministers called for boosting mutually advantageous military cooperation aimed at improving the countries' defense capabilities.

Chinese Vice-President Zeng Qinghong received the Belarussian military delegation. He expressed the confidence that Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko's upcoming visit to China would give a new impetus to bilateral relations.
