Vice Premier Wu Yi Meets First Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko of Belarus

On June 15, 2005, Vice Premier Wu Yi met in Harbin with First Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko of Belarus who was there to attend the 16th China Harbin Fair for Trade and Economic Cooperation.

Wu Yi said that China and Belarus have enjoyed traditional friendship. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the bilateral comprehensive and friendly cooperative relations have maintained constant and stable development with in-depth cooperation in such areas as economy and trade, science and technology, culture and education, and close cooperation in international affairs. The Chinese side thanks Belarus for its firm support to the questions of Taiwan and Tibet and "Falun Gong" issue. The Chinese government attaches great importance to relations with Belarus and is willing to work with it to promote development of bilateral relations.

Semashko said Belarus is satisfied with the fast development of and abundant achievements made in bilateral relations. He stressed that Belarus is grateful for the political and economic support from the Chinese side and is confident for the future development of China-Belarus relations. He said Belarus will continue to adhere to the one-China policy and is willing to cooperate with China to strengthen the bilateral relations and two-way cooperation in all areas
