In January-April, Belarus increased grains import by 83.8%

According to Ministry of Statistics and analysis of Republic of Belarus, in January-April 2007, Belarus imported 302.700 tons of grains, up 83.8% as compared to the analogous period last year.

The largest supplier of grains to Belarus became Kazakhstan (135.600 tons). According to Ministry data, during the analogous period 2006, this country supplied Belarus with 15.300 tons of grains.

Besides, in the current year, Ukraine also delivered large volume of grains - 92.400 tons, up 2.4% as compared to January-April 2006. Russia exported 58.900 tons of grains, up 3.5 times as compared to the analogous period last year.

Among the exporters of grains to Belarus, there are also Moldova - 5.500 tons (up 46.6%), Pakistan - 4.300 tons (down 22.3%), India - 2.800 tons (up 32.6%). Belarus purchased grains from Lithuania, Vietnam, Germany, and France.
