Belarusian president favors CIS development

MINSK. June 11 (Interfax) - Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said the CIS countries must intensify their cooperation.

He made the statement at Sunday's informal CIS summit in St. Petersburg, the presidential press service told Interfax.

"During an exchange of opinions with his counterparts the Belarusian president once again confirmed the unchanging belief of Belarus that the CIS should not be simply preserved, but promoted, increasing its effectiveness as an integrated association achieved through implementing specific large-scale projects," the press service said.
