Russia's Eximbank ready to offer $2Bln for nuclear plant in Belarus - diplomat

MINSK. June 11 (Interfax) - Eximbank of Russia is ready to open a credit line of $2 billion for acquisition of equipment manufactured by Power Machines (RTS: SILM), which manufactures equipment for nuclear power plants, Russian ambassador to Belarus Alexander Surikov told a Monday news conference in Minsk.

He said Power Machines signed a one-year agreement with the Belarusian Energy Ministry.

"Eximbank of Russia is ready to open a credit line of $2 billion for our equipment," he said.

Belarus is planning to commission the first unit of the plant in 2016-2017 and the second in 2020, both with a capacity of 1 million MW. The price of the project is $3 billion-$4 billion. After commissioning both units Belarus will reduce its natural gas consumption by 5 billion cubic meters.
