Days of Moscow in Belarus open in Minsk

MINSK, June 14 (Itar-Tass) -- An opening ceremony of Days of Russia in Belarus has been held in Minsk on Thursday.

On behalf of the Moscow government, the chairman of the committee of interregional ties and national policy of the mayor's office of the Russian capital, Alexei Alexandrov, addressed the meeting. He noted, in particular, that within the framework of Days of Moscow in Belarus, Days of Children and Youth of Moscow in Minsk are underway in Belarus. In this connection, Alexandrov invited all young residents of Minsk to the cinema theatre "Moskva" where new Russian cartoons and films about Moscow will be shown to them free of charge. He also invited children to come to the Gorky Park in Minsk where all side-shows will also be free of charge for them.

The holding of a great number of different events: concerts, book fairs and celebrations in honour of Belarussian veterans of the Great Patriotic War who fought near Moscow is planned within the framework of Days of Moscow in Belarus.

Moscow mayor Yuri Luzhkov is expected to arrive in Minisk in the afternoon. During a two-day visit, he is expected to hold talks with Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko and Prime Minister Sergei Sidorsky on issues of development of bilateral cooperation.
