MINSK. June 10 (Interfax) - Inflation in Belarus totaled 1.3% in May 2008 and 6.6% in January-May, the Statistics and Analysis Ministry said.
Inflation totaled 15.8% in annual terms in May 2008.
Consumer prices grew 1.2% in April, 0.8% in March, 0.7% in February and 2.5% in January.
Belarus had inflation of 3.2% in January-May 2007.
Average monthly inflation in January-May 2008 grew to 1.3% compared to 0.64% in the same period of last year.
The Belarusian government and National Bank had planned to contain inflation within 6%-8% in 2008, or at a pace of 0.5%-0.6% on average per month.
Consumer prices grew 12.1% in Belarus in 2007 (amid a forecast of 6%-8%) compared to 6.6% in 2006.
