Lukashenko of Belarus about KGB: I cannot say for what awards are given

AIA already shortly reported yesterday about presenting Belarus State Security Committee (KGB) officers with state awards in Minsk. Today, online paper Khartiya'97 expands on the speech of the Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko at the ceremony in an 'inner circle', as it puts it.

"I cannot say publicly for what the state awards are given to you. But I know perfectly well for what", Khartiya'97 is quoting the Belarus' leader as saying. "Rumours reached my ears that Lukashenko is allegedly dissatisfied with the work of the KGB. These are nothing but rumours, and the KGB should know what the source of this rumours is."

"I have always respected this organisation, since my childhood and youth, and I respect it now. I have always believed that honest and "clean people work there," Lukashenko is quoted as saying by news agency Interfax. Besides, Lukashenko reportedly explained, why "awards are given to such a small circle of people": "That's because a wide circle of people shouldn't see you". As said by him, "if we would have more such people in our secret service, it will be a real secret service".
