MINSK. June 11 (Interfax) - Total industrial output in Belarus in January-May 2009 at current prices came to 48.398 trillion Belarusian rubles (2,820 Belarusian rubles/$1 on June 11, 2009), a year-on-year decrease of 3.4%, Belstat said in a press release.
In May 2009, production shrank by 2.8% year-on-year. In comparison with April, however, output went up by 1.5%.
The press release said that Belarus was gradually restoring industrial production. In January-May the decrease came to 3.4% against 3.6% in January-April and 4.5% in the first quarter.
Agricultural output in the five month increased by 6.8% to 6.03 trillion Belarusian rubles at current prices.
Total investment in capital assets increased by 18.9% year-on-year to 14.579 trillion Belarusian rubles.
