Manhunt finds fugitive in Belarus

An international manhunt for an alleged child rapist believed to be living in Australia has ended with the fugitive arrested while attempting an armed robbery in Belarus, police say.

Investigators believed South African George Diederik Prinsloo, 39, could have been living in Australia under a different name.

But earlier this week, Prinsloo was arrested while attempting an armed robbery in Minsk, Belarus.

Prinsloo, a solicitor, faces allegations of sexually abusing minors he lured and took from an orphanage.

He was one of 16 international fugitives believed to be hiding in Australia, Crime Stoppers International announced earlier this month.

The list included a Canadian bikie, 57-year-old David Macdonald Carrol, wanted over 13 deaths, and a number of southeast Asian individuals wanted for money laundering and fraud offences.

Crime Stoppers will renew their call for assistance on Thursday to track down the remaining 15 fugitives believed to be in Australia, while also appealing for help to find Australia's most wanted fugitives.

James Dalamangas, 38, features on Australia's most wanted list and is also listed among NSW Police's most wanted.

He is wanted for murder offences and is believed to be living in Greece. A reward of up to $200,000 is on offer for information leading to his arrest.
