Belarus received an observer status in the Council of the Baltic Sea States

On 3-4 June, Helsingor (Denmark) hosted the 15th ministerial session of the Council of the Baltic Sea States that saw a unanimous decision by the Ministers of the CBSS member countries to grant an observer status to Belarus effective since 1 July 2009.

Ambassador of Belarus to Sweden Andrei Grinkevich addressed the session on behalf of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Sergei Martynov and expressed gratitude for the support of Belarus efforts towards closer co-operation with the CBSS. He highlighted adherence of our country to intensification of co-operation with the Council that meets the interests of all parties involved.

Andrei Grinkevich met with the Danish Presidency of the CBSS, Head of the CBSS Secretariat, as well as with the Heads of the national delegations of Sweden, Germany and Spain.

The Ambassador also took part in a meeting between the Danish Presidency and the CBSS observer countries during which he stressed Belarus interest in enlarging co-operation with the CBSS.
