Lukashenko: Belarus to enhance European vector of its foreign policy

Interfax-Ukraine

Minsk, June 8 (Interfax) - Belarus is ready to enhance the European vector of its foreign policy, President Alexander Lukashenko told Slovenian Foreign Minister Samuel Zbogar in Minsk on Monday.

Slovenia is presiding at the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers.

"The European Union offers new technologies, credit and investments. This vector is very important to us, and we will try to enhance it," Lukashenko said.

"I think you will be our good counselor and supporter of this direction," he told Zbogar.

The Minsk visit of the Slovenian foreign minister will boost Belarus-Slovenia cooperation and strengthen the political atmosphere of Belarus' relations with Slovenia and the European Union, the Belarusian president said.

"You can be sure that this [relationship with the EU] is not a one-time event or a game. This is our strategy," Lukashenko said.

Zbogar said he came to Belarus to study the possibility to develop good relations of the past.
