Belarus received an observer status in the Council of the Baltic Sea States thumbnail

Minsk - As from July 1, 2009 Belarus will be granted the status of observer in the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS). The relevant decision was made unanimously by the 15th session of the CBSS Ministerial Council in Dutch Elsinore, BelTA learnt from representatives of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.

At the session Ambassador of Belarus to Sweden Andrei Grinkevich voiced an address by Foreign Minister of Belarus Sergei Martynov. The address expressed gratitude for supporting Belarus' intentions to enhance cooperation with the CBSS and underscored Belarus' adherence to further active cooperation with the organisation for the benefit of all the involved countries.

Andrei Grinkevich also held meetings with the Danish presidency in the CBSS as well as heads of national delegations of Sweden, Germany, and Spain.

After the main session the Belarusian ambassador took part in a meeting of the Danish presidency with representatives of CBSS observer states. At the meeting Andrei Grinkevich outlined Belarus' interest in further enhancement of mutually beneficial cooperation with the CBSS.
