Belarus fertilizer company mulls selling share to China

China is the most likely buyer for a share in a Belaruskalii fertilizer company, Belarus Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko said Wednesday.

Belaruskalii's minority package has been estimated at about six to seven billion U.S. dollars.

"This is not even a controlling stake," said Semashko as quoted by the Belarus state news agency Belta.

Belaruskalii, one of the world's largest fertilizers producers, is a part of the Belneftekhim Corp. It is also the biggest fertilizer maker among the former Soviet republics and employs nearly 20,000 workers.

The company exports fertilizer to more than 50 countries.
