Medvedev hopes to meet halfway with Lukashenko

TASHKENT, June 11 (Itar-Tass) -- Russian President Dmitry Medvedev hopes to make a headway with Belarus in the formation of the Customs Union and a common economic space at forthcoming negotiations with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko here on Friday.

"I hope that we will take some steps to meet halfway, but much will depend from the position of Belarus. Let's wait and see," the Russian president told Itar-Tass.

"I always expect something, particularly when I am back from far trips and as it is said dashing from one place to another. The expectations are different," Medvedev added.

According to him, high on the agenda of the negotiations with Belarus "is the advance towards integration, the launch of the Customs Union and the advance towards the creation of a common economic space."
