Starting from 2006 Belarus will import not above 100,000 t of durum wheat

Starting from 2006 Belarus will import not above 100,000 tonnes of durum wheat from abroad, announced the President of the Republic Alexander Lukashenko.

The President said that the main need of the state should be covered with the grain produced domestically. Only small volumes of high-quality wheat could be imported for production of top-grade macaroni and breads.

The president was also insisting on the production of malting barley in Belarus, because he found this matter very important.
