Poland disputes Belarus expulsions

BEIJING, JULY 17-- Polish Foreign Ministry says Poland will take countermeasures if Belarus expels its Polish diplomats.

Belarus' Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed the Polish embassy in Belarus that the chiefs of its embassy and consulates must leave the country before July 21st.

The Belarusian government condemned the Polish embassy in the country for manipulating the election of minority party, Union of Poles of Belarus.

It claims that Poland managed to install a pro-West leadership in the organization, in order to scheme anti-Belarus activities.

Poland regards Belarus' expulsion action as a violation of human rights.

It is the second time that Belarus has expelled Polish diplomats. In May, Minsk expelled a Polish diplomat. Poland retaliated by ordering the expulsion of a Belarusian diplomat.

The Polish minority in Belarus makes up only five percent of the population.
