Poland represented in Belarus by third party?

House Speaker Wlodzimierz Cimoszewicz has not ruled out the possibility of representing Polish interests in Belarus by a third party, for example Switzerland. Cimoszewicz put responsibility for the crisis in Polish-Belarusian relations on the authorities in Minsk. He branded as absurd statements of the Belarusian regime accusing Polish diplomats of espionage. "If that be the case, we would conduct such operations in a far more intelligent manner", the House Speaker snapped. In the opinion of Cimoszewicz, the anti-Polish campaign is an attempt by president Lukashenko to divert public attention from his regime's internal problems. This has resulted in a two way diplomatic war between the neighbors, a situation which cannot be considered normal, added the Speaker.

The latest manifestation of this conflict has been the ousting of a Belarusian consular official from Warsaw in response after two Polish diplomats had been asked to leave Belarus.
