Belarus has reliable national security system - Lukashenko

MINSK, July 3 (Itar-Tass) - Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko said on Monday his country has a reliable national security system and its armed forces are ready to protect Belarus' sovereignty and independence.

He was speaking ahead of the march devoted to the Day of Independence of Belarus and the 62d anniversary of liberation from German fascist occupants.

"The Belarussian armed forces have everything to rebuff attacks. Military and combat trainings entered a qualitatively new level," he said pointing out that his country makes a considerable contribution to ensuring security within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.

"Belarus conducts purely peaceful foreign policy. During the years of its independence it did not get involved in any international conflict or allowed to be engaged in any political gamble," Lukashenko said.

He pointed out that the European continent remains most militarized region in the world. Belarus takes necessary steps to keep the security system integral and effective.

"Belarus retains patriotism and fresh memories of World War II," he said.

"You did not allow to make our country kneeled down in the most tragic period of our history and proved that neither enemy could crash, intimidate or win us," Lukashenko said in his address to the veterans of World War II.
