Latvian diplomat accused of spreading pornography leaves Belarus

MINSK, July 30 (Itar-Tass) - A Latvian diplomat who was accused of spreading pornography in Belarus has hurriedly left the country, Belarussian state television said on Sunday.

Police searched the apartment of the Latvian embassy's secretary in the night of July 25.

Three days later, Interior Minister Vladimir Naumov told reporters that a criminal case had been opened against the Latvian diplomatic mission worker.

The Latvian side sent a note to Belarussian authorities, protesting what it described as a gross violation of the Vienna convention on diplomatic relations.

One of representatives of official Riga said in connection with the search that an attack not only on the diplomat, but also on the country took place.
