Alawi conveys HM's greetings to president of Belarus

MOSCOW - Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko received Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, minister responsible for foreign affairs, in the Belarusian capital Minsk yesterday.

Alawi conveyed to the president the greetings of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, wishing him good health and happiness and the people of Belarus further progress and prosperity.

In his turn, President Lukashenko asked Alawi to convey his greetings to His Majesty the Sultan and the Omani people.

Alwai also met Gennady Novitsky, chairman of the Council of the Republic at the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus.

They reviewed the relations between the two countries, ways of further promoting them and issues of common concern.

Alawi also held official talks with Sergei Martynov, Belarusian minister of foreign affairs, on further promoting the relations between the two countries in various spheres.

They also discussed a number of regional and international issues.

The meetings were attended by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaher Al Hosni, the Sultanate's ambassador to the Russian Federation, who is also the Sultanate's non-resident ambassador to the Republic of Belarus; Hussain bin Omar Al Ibrahim, head of the Eastern Europe Department at the Foreign Ministry; and the delegation accompanying Alawi. Alawi arrived in Minsk on a three-day visit last Thursday.
