Beltelecom launches wi-fi pilot

by Carla Moore

Belarusian incumbent Beltelecom has launched a wi-fi pilot in Minsk, reports E-Belarus.org.

Wi-fi hotspots have been installed in Minsk's central railway station, the Minsk-2 airport, and in the foyer and conference halls of hotels Yubileinaya, Planeta, Belarus and Oktyabrskya.

The pilot will be free for users and is expected to last between two and three months. Beltelecom says that its wi-fi service provides wireless internet access at speeds of up to 2 Mbps.

The telco is planning on increasing the number of hotspots to 20 by the end of August.
