Beltelecom begins Wi-Fi tests

Belarusian national PTO Beltelecom has launched pilot trials of Wi-Fi wireless internet access services in the country. The operator has set up hotspots in Minsk central railway station's building, as well as in several hotels and in Minsk-2 airport. According to reports from e-Belarus.org, the company is planning to increase its coverage to 20 hotspots by the end of August 2007. It is offering internet connections at speeds of up to 2Mbps in the initial three-month trial period, which is being offered free of charge to interested users.
