High-level army delegation visits Russia, Belarus

VietNamNet Bridge - A high-level delegation of the Vietnam People's Army, led by Chairman of the General Political Department Gen. Le Van Dung, paid official friendship visits to Russia and Belarus from June 25-July 6.

The visits were made at the invitation of Secretary of State of the Russian Defence Ministry Gen. Pankov Nikolai Aleksandrovich, and Major General Alexander Nikolayevich Gura, Chief of the Main Directorate of Ideological Work of Belarus' Defence Ministry.

During the Russia visit, Gen. Dung held talks with A.A. Baslkov, Chairman of the General Department for Education of Armed Forces of Russia to shared experiences in education and organisation in the army.

Gen. Dung stressed that the current Vietnam-Russia relations have inherited the traditional relationship between Vietnam and the former Soviet Union.

Gen. Dung laid a wreath at the monument of President Ho Chi Minh in Moscow and visited Saint Petersburg .

In the talks between Belorussian Major General Alexander Nikolayevich Gura and Gen. Dung, the two sides briefed each other on ideological education for soldiers, contributing to strengthening the armies.

Gen. Dung and Mayor General Gura signed a memorandum of understanding on mutual visits and cultural and educational exchange between the armies of the two counties.

Gen. Dung paid a courtesy visit to Belorussian Defence Minister Senior Lieutenant General L. Maltsev. He conveyed Vietnamese Defence Minister Gen. Phung Thanh Quang's best regards and an invitation to visit Vietnam to the Belorussian Minister.
