Venezuela's PdVSA Uses Belarus Technology For Seismic Work

CARACAS -(Dow Jones)- Venezuela has received five trucks with seismic equipment from Belarus and an additional five trucks are on their way bound for the Venezuelan oil sector.

The equipment performs 2D seismic work in Venezuelan oil fields, as part of a seismic company joint venture that both countries signed, the Venezuelan information ministry said Wednesday.

Petroleos de Venezuela SA, or PdVSA, and Bealrus' energy company, Belorusneft, participate in the process of quantifying crude reserves in the Junin 1 block, an area located in the heavy-oil Orinoco basin. Belorusneft also performs exploration work in the Guara Este field in the state of Anzoategui, and the Lago Medio area in the state of Zulia.

The information ministry also said that a team of specialists on natural gas development will arrive in Venezuela next month.
