Explosion rocks concert in Minsk

MINSK, Belarus, July 4 (UPI) -- Police were investigating an explosion that ripped through a Belarusian Independence Day concert in Minsk, injuring about 50 concert-goers.

Police specialists said they hadn't determined what type of bomb was detonated during the open-air concert near the Hero City Minsk Stele, Itar-Tass reported Friday. Bolts, nuts and other metal fragments were found at the scene.

Police said they were working on several theories about the blast that occurred overnight Thursday, RIA Novosti, the Russian news agency, reported.

"At present the scene has been cordoned off and an investigation team is working at the scene," local police said. "We are considering a number of versions, of which hooliganism is the most probable."
