Sultanate and Belarus Talks
According to Oman News Agency: Khalil bin Abdullah al Khunji, Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) and his accompanying delegation currently visiting the Republic of Belarus discussed enhancing co-operation, economic and investment partnership in a number of fields and sectors of priority to plans and programmes of development in the two friendly countries. During his meeting with economic officials at the public and private sectors in Belarus including Deputy Foreign Minister and Chairman of Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, al Khunji stressed the importance of supporting joint economic initiatives to benefit from available potentials and opportunities of foreign investment, in addition to, availability of opportunities in various service and production sectors including industry, service, tourism, information technology (IT), food and fisheries production among other sectors. Al Khunji also expressed the Omani private sector's keenness to co- operate with the Belarusian private sector for further activation of trade exchange between the two countries and upgrading the level of investment co-operation. He also affirmed the OCCI's support for joint trade and investment initiatives calling for exchange visits of trade delegations taking part in trade exhibitions to familiarize with investment opportunities and various products. On their turn, the Belarusian officials expressed their country's concern to develop relations of economic and investment co-operation. They also highlighted the expected role to be played by the private sectors in the two countries. They also explained that the Belarusian economy is witnessing developments in a number of sectors and availing investment opportunities that can be benefited from by establishing joint ventures besides exchanging expertise in a number of major fields.During the bilateral meetings, a number of Omani businessmen discussed with their counterparts, the Belarusian businessmen, partnership and co-operation opportunities, establishing joint ventures, co-operation in training fields, benefiting from the Belarusian expertise in a number of spheres particularly developing small and medium projects. The Omani trade delegation led by Khalil bin Abdullah al Khunji also visited Minsk Automobiles Factory to familiarize with technology being used in the factory in particular and view the progress being witnessed by automobile sector in Belarus in general. They also visited Amkodor Company for Roads and Constructions. It is worth mentioning that the visit comes as per an invitation from the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry to discuss and enhance co-operation between the two sides and open new horizons of economic and trade relations between the two sides.
