ZTE Plans 60K Base Stations in India

Telecom equipment provider ZTE Corp. (0763.HK, 000063.SZ) expects to build more than 60,000 BBU+RRU (Baseband Unit + Remote Radio) base stations to support 2G, 3G and 4G networks in India by the end of fiscal 2010, C114.net reported July 28 citing foreign media reports. ZTE plans to recruit 1,000 new employees to operate the new base stations, the report said.

ZTE announced July 28 that it plans to construct a commercial UMTS network in Belarus for European mobile operator Turkcell's Byelorussian Telecommunication Network (BeST) subsidiary. The network will provide high-speed HSPA data services and allow upgrades to a long term evolution (LTE) standard, ZTE said.
