Chris's Games anthem a big hit in Belarus

Published by: Andrew Boyd

A SINGER, songwriter and accomplished musician is continuing to reap the rewards of a song written seven years ago.

Chris Turner, of Rhyl, composed a song - Do IT... The Mancunian Way - for the 2002 Commonwealth Games, with the record having been reused for several international singing competitions since then.

After performing in Egypt and Italy last year, Chris this year performed Do It.. The Belorussian Way while based in Belarus for the International Festival of Arts which he was also a judge at as the sole British member of the jury panel.

Children waved Welsh flags on stage, while intrigued by the odd socks Chris wears as a sign of peace, love and unity. He presented Welsh rugby shirts to jury members and festival organisers.

Selected youngsters aged eight to 11 from Rhyl's Theatre in the Community (TiC) group were invited to pre-record backing vocals for the single, including a middle section of shouting "welcome" in several languages.

Jen Smith, company manager for TiC, said: "It is a good partnership for us that we have with Chris. Our members enjoyed being involved.
