Belarus temporarily bans pork imports from Lithuania

Petras Vaida, BC, Vilnius/Minsk,

Belarus has imposed a temporary ban on importing pigs and pork products from Lithuania, reported the Belarusian Ministry of Agriculture and Foodstuffs on Tuesday.

The principal veterinary office of Belarus decided to prohibit the import of pork products from Lithuania due to the outbreak of the swine fever virus in Panevezys district, reports ELTA/LETA.

The interim prohibition will be in force "till the situation becomes completely clear," said the ministry in its statement.
