Camstar buys SigmaQuest

Charlotte-based Camstar Systems Inc. has acquired SigmaQuest, a California software company.

Camstar creates software platforms for businesses involved in solar manufacturing, medical devices, biotech, electronics and semiconductors, among others.

SigmaQuest also serves the solar, electronics and medical-device industries as well as aerospace, defense and telecom. The company was founded in 2001 and has 30 employees.

Camstar expects the merger to boost revenue 30% in 2011.

The company described the acquisition as a "a very clean merger - a near-perfect alignment of solutions, industries and vision."

Financial terms were not disclosed.

The brands will be integrated by the end of the year under the Camstar label. Workers will be consolidated from Sunnyvale, Calif. at Camstar's office in San Jose.

Camstar has 160 employees in San Jose, Singapore, Malaysia and Shanghai. It also has more than 40 contract employees in Belarus.

Camstar recently moved to a 15,000-square-foot headquarters in Ballantyne Corporate Park.
