Belarus supports establishment of EurAsEC commission for trade and tariffs

Kazakhstan today

ALMATY. Belarus supports an idea of establishment of a EurAsEC commission for trade and tariffs. Representative of the Belarusian delegation at the EurAsEC informal summit in Sochi said that such issue could be discussed there, Kazakhstan Today reports citing the BELTA agency.

Experts observed that the establishment of a EurAsEC commission for trade and tariffs and an assignment of several national authorities to it are obligatory for the existence of any Customs Union. At the first phase the Commission will receive such functions as control over the implementation of signed solutions of the integration authorities, the formation and introduction of a common customs tariff, the application of protective, antidumping and compensatory measures.

The creation of the Customs Union within the EurAsEC, as experts observe, necessitates a decision on the establishment of a EurAsEC commission that would regulate formation of a common foreign trade policy with regard to third countries. The existence of such authority suggests unification of economic policies and a complete liquidation of national protectionist measures.

At the same time the Belarusian side, speaking about such authority, means not a submission, but a unification of sovereignties, common efforts in the global economy. The EurAsEC commission must not form, but only manage the already agreed common rules, the Belarusian representative stressed.
