Gazprom postpones plans to cut gas supplies to Belarus for 1 week

MOSCOW (Thomson Financial) - OAO Gazprom said it has postponed for one week plans to cut gas supplies to Belarus in a payment dispute after Beltransgaz made a partial payment on its 460 mln usd debt for shipments received this year, Interfax reported.

'We can see real steps by the Belarussian side to resolve the debt problem, therefore it was decided not to put restrictions on gas supplies in place today,' Gazprom spokesman Sergei Kupriyanov said.

Gazprom had said it would cut pipeline shipments by 45 pct from today.

Earlier this morning, Beltransgaz said it transferred a partial payment of 190 mln usd to Gazprom.
