Belarus: rapeseeds production volume to rise to 1 mln tonnes

Belarus should increase volumes of rapeseeds production to 1 mln tonnes during next 1-2 years, declared Sergey Sidorskiy, the Prime Minister of Belarus, on August, 11.

This year rapeseeds croppage totaled 585.000 tonnes, up 100% compared to the previous year. Besides, spring rapeseeds harvest is to total nearly 100.000 tonnes. But processing enterprises of fat-and-oil industry is able to receive 400.000 tonnes only.

Several private enterprises buy Belarusian rapeseeds, ship the product abroad and produce rape oil there. Then rape oil is shipped back to Belarus and sold at rather high prices. S. Sidorskiy insisted on monitoring of work of such enterprises, because they damage economics of the country.

According to the Prime Minister, all rapeseeds export will be made through commodity exchange, also Belarus will build new plants for rapeseeds processing.
