Belarus to increase vegetable shipments to Russia

According to the information of Rossiyskaya gazeta, in the first half year, the turnover between Russia and Belarus increased by 1.6 times. The Belarus vegetables are among the most demanded products. The percentage dynamics to the level of the first half of 2007 is impressive: instead of the last year's 86 tonnes of carrot, this year 4.500 tonnes of this crop were shipped to Russia, beet - 7.000 tonnes against 630 tonnes. The volumes of sold cabbage increased by 1.7 times compared to the last year.

The volumes of the contracts for a new potato crop have already increased by one third. In particular, these are the results of executing of the Belarus state programs supporting vegetable-growing. As it was earlier reported, according to the assignment by Alexander Lukashenko, the President of Belarus, the first commodity vegetable exchange will be created in the country. The key goal for this is that all vegetable producers should have an equal access to the market. And the prices will be regulated by supply and demand. Creation of such exchange will also facilitate vegetable purchases made to the table of the Russian people.
