Belarusian Deputy FM Visits Libya

A delegation of the Belarusian foreign ministry, led by Deputy Minster Viktar Haysyonak, arrived in Libya on August 18 on a three-day visit.

The delegation held a round of consultations with representatives of the Libyan General People's Committee for External Relations and International Cooperation on Monday, the Belarusian foreign ministry's press office.

The talks focused on "the entire range of issues of Belarusian-Libyan cooperation," according to the press office.

In particular, the delegations reportedly "identified promising areas of cooperation in the trade and economic sphere" and discussed "the possibility of expanding the legal framework for bilateral relations."

The Belarusian and Libyan officials "expressed satisfaction with the existing level of cooperation and mutual support within international organizations, confirmed the intention to continue cooperation in the framework of the UN and the Non-Aligned Movement," the press office said.

On the same day the delegation met with Libyan Foreign Minister Abdurahman Shalgam to discuss "certain areas of bilateral cooperation between Belarus and Libya." BelaPAN
