Lukashenko warns West against imposing conditions

FOCUS News Agency

Minsk. Belarus's President Alexander Lukashenko warned Western nations Thursday that he would not accept any conditions in return for better ties, despite a deterioration in relations with Russia, AFP reported.

"I would like to warn the Europeans. If they think they can impose conditions on us all the time because relations between Belarus and Russia have deteriorated, if they are hoping that Lukashenko will free criminals from prison and change laws, they are mistaken," he said, according to his press office.

"Belarus is ready to work with the European Union and the United States on an equal footing. But only if they aren't hoping to transfer power to the opposition by such plots."
